"Let's talk about a unique and suitable design for your project. I'll listen to your wishes and offer my creative input. When there is trust and creative freedom, I produce my best work. However, not every request involving painting or illustrating aligns with me as an artist. Therefore, please review my portfolio and the following information."

What I enjoy doing

In- & Outdoor Murals

Window Art

(Digital) Illustrations

Connecting & Sharing

So, how does it work?

1

Gather information and send an e-mail

To clarify your wishes and describe the type of project, I would like to receive the following information:

  • Type of artwork

  • How, where and how long is the artwork going to be used?

  • Name of company or organization

  • Location

  • Measurements

  • Pictures of the wall, window, space and/or object

  • Does the wall have texture or is it plastered?

  • Select a range of visual references from my own past work | My instagram is a good start!

  • Add inspirational images to amplify your wishes

  • Color preferences

  • Do you have a budget in mind?

  • Preferred deadline

If you already have a briefing, that's great! It would really help if you check all information is included.

2

Quotation and Downpayment

After receiving all the information I will send you a proposal, my work method and extra information. There will be clear communication on what to expect and when. After confirming the quotation through e-mail I will start with the drafting process. Please note that in order to start drafting, a downpayment needs to be covered.

3

Brainstorming and Sketching

Based on the information I will do research, brainstorm and start with sketching. I will make a selection from the sketches to discuss with you through e-mail or a (zoom) call. Based on the feedback I will make some adjustments. For a wall or window project, I digitally design on the received picture to make sure you get the clearest possible idea of the result.

4

Finalizing behind my desk or on location

When you're happy with the result, I'll start with finalizing the piece.

Depending on the type of artwork and what it will be used for, I'll make sure it's delivered in the right way/file type.
Painting an artwork on location probably takes a few days to weeks, depending on the project. You will know in advance what I'll arrange for you and what is needed on location. Live painting is a memorable experience for you, your customers, employees and/or anyone who passes by.

  • How much does it costs?
The price of an artwork depends on the type of project, what you're going to use it for, your wishes, the amount of work, material & travel costs, licenses, anything that is relevant. The price of an artwork created from my desk start from € 320,- (excluded VAT), projects on location start from € 960,- (excluded VAT). If you would like to work with me, feel free to request a quotation. If you work with a budget/fixed fee, please let me know beforehand.
  • Do you work for free?
I appreciate clients that understand and respect my time and value as an artist. My rates reflect the worth of my craftsmanship. If you feel my work and time is not worth paying for, then we're not a match. There are exceptions: If you're a charity and it's a cause I support, I'm willing to consider it. Do get in touch, so we can discuss. ♥ Please strive that within a project artists are paid according to value just like everyone else. Artists shouldn't be the only one working for free ♥
  • When can you start?
This depends on the type of project and my schedule. Please send an e-mail to check if I'm available.
  • I would like to call you, where can I find your phone number?
I deliberately choose not to share my phone number on my website. I easily get distracted by phone calls while working, so this helps to retain my focus. You can send an e-mail to info@marloesdekiewit.com and I will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
  • Do we only communicate through e-mail?
Most of the communication will go through e-mail. This to keep all the information together and to find it easily. I like to work with a clear overview of my projects and all that is discussed. But phone calls and zoom-meetings are possible, especially for bigger and/or long-term projects. Sometimes it's even necessary and desirable for the both of us if I bring a visit to your location. I don't discuss any business through Whatsapp, Social Media Messages or SMS. This to prevent miscommunication and that information get's lost in all the different inboxes.
  • Do you sell prints or artworks at the moment?
A webshop will be added to the website soon. If you want to stay informed, sign up for my monthly newsletter.
  • Do I own the work you create?
No, the copyright remains with me. You pay for my experience, the time and costs it took to create the artwork and the license to use it for a certain purpose we discussed. For example: I painted a mural in your restaurant. You would like to use the design on the menu and you're playing with the idea to print it on cups. If that's the case, we will work with additional licenses.
  • Can I adjust your artwork?
You're not allowed to do any adjustments yourself, because there's a copyright on the artwork. Depending on your request, I can help adjusting the artwork. I will charge on the hourly rate.
  • Can I endlessly use the artwork I payed for?
No, the copyright of an artwork remains with the creator. You can only use the artwork for the license you've payed for. You're not allowed to change or use it for any other purposes. If you would like to use it for something different, please send an e-mail. We can discuss an additional license or buy-out if necessary.
  • What is a license?
A license is another word for 'right of use'. With a license you receive the permission from a creator to use a design for the purpose that's discussed. It tells you what, where for, the amount, for how long and where it can be used for. For a license you pay a percentage of the price for which the design was made.
  • Can I use your artwork for a tattoo/article/product/blog...?
Thank you for asking! You can send an e-mail to info@marloesdekiewit.com let me know which artwork and where you want to use it for. I'll offer you a license, because it's not allowed to use any of my work without permission.
  • If I hire you, do you provide content that I can use on my social media accounts and/or website?
This is not included. If you would like me to create content for you to use, please let me know in advance so I can add this to the quotation. Creating content takes time & thought, and is an interruption of my focus and flow. An appropriate additional amount will be charged.
  • If I hire you, will you promote my company/brand on your social media?
Advertising is not included but can be discussed.
  • I have an podcast/blog/magazine/etc, can I interview you?
I would love to know all about it! I enjoy talking about being an artist, working as a freelancer and all the ups and downs. Please send an e-mail to info@marloesdekiewit.com and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
  • I have a different question.
Feel free to send an email to info@marloesdekiewit.com I will get back to you as soon as possible!
  • Can I share your artwork on social media?
If you would like to share my work for personal use, yes! Please make sure you mention my name and tag my account, so others know that I'm the creator ♥ I appreciate it! If you're a business and want to promote your service/product with my work, then no. Please contact me to discuss.
  • Do you want to promote the work/product and tag my brand on your social media channels?
Advertising on my social media channels and website is not automatically included in the price. Please get in contact to discuss.
  • How do I stay up to date with your work?
You can follow my latest work on social media. Because of the algorithm, I started to work with a monthly newsletter. I will be sharing tips, sneak peeks, thoughts and anything that get's me excited. You can subscribe on my homepage or the contact-page, and don't worry, you can unsubscribe anytime ☺
  • Can you promote my product on your social media?
Your product needs to fit my work and be something that I would really use. If it's a match then I'm open for a collaboration. Please send an e-mail to info@marloesdekiewit.com Please note that I don't promote/advertise for free
  • Can I send you a product in exchange for a mention on your social media?
    Please see above ↑
  • I have a quick question
Please check out 'Extra' for the options I'm offering to help you with your question. Looking forward to hear from you ♥
  • Do you take interns?
Unfortunately I don't have the time and space to guide an intern at the moment.
  • Do you teach workshops?
No yet, but it's on my to-do list! I would love to know what you would like to learn, so feel free to send an e-mail to info@marloesdekiewit.com and I could take it into account. Want to know when there's a workshop available? Please subscribe to my newsletter (on my homepage) to stay up to date! And don't worry you can unsubscribe anytime ☺
  • Can I copy your work?
For practice, yes! But it's for your eyes only ☺ It's copyright infringement if you want to publish it (also on social media), post it on your website or sell it. So please keep it private.
  • I have questions about your work method, being an artist and/or how to work as a freelancer. Can you help me?
Because of limited time as a one-person-business, I shared a few options on the page 'Extra' to help artists on their creative journey. Hopefully it helps! ♥
